ABOUT THE PROJECT
Concept
EchoHEALTH – ERA Chair project, which was submitted to the Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence call of the EU’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, where it received an above-threshold rating, will promote innovation excellence at the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre (BMC).
The EchoHEALTH project aims to enhance the translational excellence of the BMC by establishing the One Health Informatics Centre (OHIC), led by an experienced bioinformatician Alvis Brāzma as the ERA Chair holder.
This initiative seeks to bridge the significant gap in bioinformatics and data science within the health sector, and will be based on the use of Latvia’s biobanking and omics infrastructure, also integrating comprehensive national datasets.
EchoHEALTH will ensure a shift from traditional epidemiological approaches to integrated, preventive health strategies, fostering strong cross-sectoral research partnerships aligned with the WHO’s One Health principle.
